Unwinding the Namibian Way

Namibia never ceases to amaze me with ist breathtaking and diverse landscapes. They say it boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in Africa—and truly, it does. But when it comes to spas, it really
depends on what soothes your soul. Imagine this: the vast, silent Namib Desert, home to the iconic Sossusvlei dunes, offers a spa experience unlike any other—endless horizons, profound silence, and space so vast you could lose yourself in it. Of course, no spa is complete without a little luxury, so don’t forget to have your champagne well chilled and generously poured!

Now, if wildlife is more your calling, Namibia won’t disappoint. There’s game viewing with meals fit for royalty. However, when I’m near Windhoek, I prefer a little road trip just outside the city. There, I’ve discovered Zensations, the Spa of Onjala Lodge—a hidden gem tucked away on one of Namibia’s famous gravel roads (where, believe it or not, 80% of our roads are gravel!). Driving slowly along these roads
gives me the time to truly soak in the landscape: watching birds of prey glide gracefully overhead, spotting kudu Horns peeking out of the bush, and even engaging in a playful race with an oryx—though, as always, the oryx wins!

After spending just a morning at the spa, enjoying a rejuvenating massage in the heart of the bush while the soft chirps of birds in the palm trees provide the perfect soundtrack, I feel reborn. The return ride to Windhoek is like coming back from a mini holiday—a much-needed Time-out that leaves me grounded and ready to embrace the coming days with renewed energy.

Namibia’s spas are as multifaceted as the land itself — sometimes raw and untamed, yet at other moments refined and even regal enough for a president. Speaking of which, an exciting change has come to our country. At the end of last year, Namibia elected its first woman president, Nandi Ndaitwah. In her inaugural address, she spoke of the nation’s choice for peace and stability, setting an inspiring tone for
the future. It’s a refreshing, hopeful start to a new chapter for our beautiful land.

If you have a story of your own—an adventure or a moment of quiet reflection from Namibia—I would love to hear it. Please feel free to share your tales at:
