1. Who is responsible

The controller responsible for data processing on this blog is:

2. Overview

This is a personal editorial blog. We collect and process personal data only where it is necessary to operate the site securely or where you have given your consent. We do not sell your data and do not pass it on to third parties except as described below.

3. Hosting and server log files

This blog is hosted by [HOSTING PROVIDER, location]. When you visit the site, the hosting provider automatically collects and stores technical information that your browser transmits, in so-called server log files: browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, host name of the accessing device, time of the request and the IP address. This data is not merged with other data sources. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are stored for a limited period and then deleted.

4. Cookies and consent

This site uses only technically necessary cookies by default. Analytics and any non-essential processing run exclusively after you have given your consent through our consent banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time. The legal basis for non-essential cookies is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

5. Web analytics – Matomo

We use Matomo, an open-source analytics tool that we host ourselves on our own infrastructure. No analytics data is sent to third parties. Matomo runs only after you have given your consent via the consent banner. Your IP address is anonymised before storage, and the data is used solely to understand, in aggregate, how the blog is used. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.

6. Newsletter – Brevo

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process the email address you provide in order to send you the newsletter. We use a double opt-in procedure: after signing up, you receive a confirmation email and your subscription becomes active only once you confirm it. Newsletter delivery is handled on our behalf by Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, 106 boulevard de Magenta, 75010 Paris, France) as our processor under a data processing agreement. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every newsletter, after which your address is removed from the distribution list. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

7. Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process the information you send us in order to handle your enquiry. This data is not passed on without your consent. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to your message (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

8. Fonts

This site uses self-hosted fonts. They are served directly from our own server, so no connection to external font providers (such as Google Fonts) is established and no data is transmitted to them when you load a page.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase or restrict the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address in section 1.

10. Data security

This site uses SSL/TLS encryption (HTTPS) to protect the transmission of data between your browser and our server.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes to the blog or to legal requirements. The current version always applies and is available on this page.
